the Travelling Objects handbook
Finds Stories project explores the ways in which mobility, both physical and social, shapes the lives of individuals, objects, and natural environments. The diverse experiences of mobile groups are uncovered, along with their material culture, shedding light on the diverse ways in which mobility shapes our world. More precisely, by collecting and analysing biographical data, the ‘stories’ of people who have moved or are still moving across regions, different landscapes, borders, as well as the journeys of the objects they are engaging with, are transformed through creative arts into metanarratives. Then, our team of researchers drew on expertise from anthropology, archaeology, sociology, education, and creative arts, and examined the complex relationships between mobility and identity, culture, and social change. Finally, we developed a Cultural Heritage in Education based approach to teach second language acquisition through Creative Object Biographies (COB) and their metanarratives.
